The new vehicle registration system, also known as SIV, consists of 7 alphanumeric characters and 2 hyphens on the AA-123-ZZ model. The territorial identifier is not part of the registration number.

The European identifier must include the international code of the country issuing the registration document with the European Community symbol of the 12 stars.
